Cause Mission:

Compass Children's Charity helps to strengthen the capacity of local partners to deliver high quality, inclusive and safe programmes. With experience of managing a diverse range of programmes across Latin America, Compass Children’s Charity is uniquely positioned to build on its prior experience and develop a simple yet effective Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework to effectively demonstrate a positive and measurable impact on the lives of children and young people.  This technical support is tailored to the needs of the individual organisation and works through a cyclical, structured progression (reflecting the evolving nature of the support required over time) towards a longer-term transition away from direct support from Compass. Our aim is to work with local partners is to increase the impact and effectiveness of their programmes and strengthen the long-term sustainability of their work – ultimately benefiting more disenfranchised children and young people both now and for years to come.

We achieve our mission in the following ways:

  • Our team of Social Workers reunite children and young people with their families. Where this is not possible we place them with carefully chosen foster families.
  • We support children to re-engage in full-time education.
  • We use our Drop in Programme and Education Programmes plus sports activities to engage with children and young people, which enables us to provide practical and emotional support.
  • Our enterprise schemes provide training and apprenticeships for young people unable to re-engage in formal education.
  • Glad’s House businesses play an active role in generating income in Kenya for Core Work and creating jobs for the children and young people we care for.

What we do:

We provide advocacy, capacity building and funding support to our partner programmes. We work to develop collaborative partnerships that promote measurable impact on the lives of at-risk children through programmes and rights based advocacy. We support children to re-engage in full-time education. We use our Drop in Programme and Education Programmes plus sports activities to engage with children and young people, which enables us to provide practical and emotional support. Our enterprise schemes provide training and apprenticeships for young people unable to re-engage in formal education. We provide a safe environment for children to live and grow and work to re-integrate children with their families where safe to do so.

How we work:

  • We raise funds from individuals, trusts and funding bodies for projects, education, core costs, healthcare, street outreach, Sport for health, Music Therapy and many more. We campaign for the rights of street children via social media, campaign actions and lobbying.
